Women in Black - Milton

Guidelines

-

We are committed to witness against war and for justice.
  • Our witness is a nonviolent vigil of one or more people in which we hold signs identifying ourselves in a public location to express our commitment against war and for justice. While remaining silent during the vigil, we do hand out flyers to any who would want to know what we are doing.
  • Our vigil began with women, but all are welcome.
  • We vigil on a regular weekly basis for one-half hour from Noon to 12:30 pm. Day of the week and location vary.
  • Signs against war and for justice are in order. The variety of slogans can be amazing. Some address international issues, such as the war against Iraq, while others address local issues. Israeli Women in Black vigils hold signs that say "End the Occupation". Internationally, many signs read "End the Israeli Occupation". In some countries, signs read, "End War" or "End All Oppression" or "Stop the Cycle of Violence" or simply "Peace".
  • Conversation is welcome before and after the vigil. Often people go for a meal following the vigil for further conversation and companionship.
